When Lititz throws a party, they go all out. Any town can hold a festival or have a parade. However, Lititz does it on a grand scale with tour buses from all over the Mid Atlantic region pouring visitors onto its streets.

The first is their Independence Day Celebration considered one of the largest in the area. Events include parades, a Queen of Candles pageant and a spectacular fireworks show. The celebrations usually span two full days—the third and the fourth of July.

The Lititz Rotary Craft Show is held a month later in August. In arts and crafts circles, the show is famous nationwide. Be prepared because it seems like this one's always held on the hottest day of the year. Many roads are shut down so both parking and traffic can be tight. Don't worry though, because Lititz offers shopper parking on the outskirts of town with shuttle bus transportation to the event.

But even when there aren't any events going on, Lititz's industries open themselves up for you to visit. Pennsylvania has a lot of chocolate and pretzel makers and Lititz happens to be home to both. Visit the Wilbur Chocolate Candy Store and Museum (48 North Broad Street, 888-294-5287) and watch how the Wilbur Chocolate Company makes many of their finest products. And in the store you can buy some of the very confections you were just salivating over. It isn't hard to find. Just follow the smell of chocolate that wafts throughout town.

Then there's the Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery (219 East Main Street, 717-626-4354). They're the oldest pretzel bakery in the U.S. Stop in and tour the bakery to see how pretzels are made. Hit the store on the way out to pick up some souvenirs.

The main drag through town is Broad Street. Some stores are located along here but most can be found on Main Street, which is just off Broad Street. Lititz offers a lot of shopping options and many stores are located in the historic homes and businesses throughout town. Although there aren't many choices for fine dining in town, you will fine plenty of casual eateries to satisfy your appetite.

Most shops in Lititz can be found along Main Street.

It's important to note, that unless there's an event, Lititz is almost completely shut down on Sundays. But on the rest of the week, start your trip with a stop at the
Lititz Welcome Center & Train Station Replica (North Broad Street just south of Wilbur Chocolate Company). It's a visitor's center and an attraction all rolled into one. The Welcome Center is located in the heart of town in
Lititz Springs Park, a beautiful park with trails, benches, and a river running through it, perfect for a picnic. Spread out the blanket and enjoy some chocolate covered pretzels. Then you'll know you're in Lititz!
